Hon. Edwin Vassallo was born on 24th June, 1961. He completed his education at Stella Maris College, following which he took up the family business in Mosta. For three years until 1996, Hon. Edwin Vassallo was the President of ZAK (Catholic Youth Action) in Mosta. He was also active until the age of 23 in the Mosta branch of the Catholic doctrine society, M.U.S.E.U.M. Between 1993 and 1996, he was a member of the Mosta Local Council, and later was also elected President of the College of Nationalist Party Councillors. Edwin was also elected member of the National Association of Local Councils. In 1996, Hon. Edwin Vassallo successfully contested the general elections for the first time in the interests of the Nationalist Party. Between 1996 and 1998, he was the opposition spokesman on local councils; and in 1998, he helped found the Secretariat for SMEs within the Nationalist Party structure.
