The eminent social activist has every right to resort to a peaceful Gandhian protest — an indefinite fast — for the noble cause of ending corruption. The government's move to suppress his agitation is short-sighted. Its failure to sense the public anger will boomerang on it. By digging out an old issue to level charges against Mr. Hazare, the UPA government has shown that it has zero tolerance, not of corruption but of any voice raised against corruption. Even British rulers did not slander Mahatma Gandhi. The UPA government's attitude is frightening.If today we do not all get together and speak out against it then the damage not only our future, we will take up the new generation. He prepared to lead a protest, is a frail 74-year-old former army driver who idolises independence hero Mahatma Gandhi. he is fighting for our future.
