Aikido is often called a "modern martial art" and was developed early in the 1900's in Japan by Morihei Uyeshiba (1883-1969), a Japanese philosopher and master of several budo. It is often called "a peaceful martial art" since conflict or damage to the opponent is a last resort. The practice can come into every aspect of daily life as a heightening of focus and awareness of the flow of energy between two, among several, in groups, the sphere of the world... all who practice or have interest in this art please be welcome and help to form this group dedicated to international peace.
